I was finally going to Asia, the epicenter, the Olduvai Gorge of food, as it were. My much-anticipated trip to Taipei, Taiwan, started like so many international forays. To begin with, my trip was booked by someone who does not own a globe, or I had angered in a previous life.

A 30-year-old Iraq war veteran from Phoenix went missing near Globe last week, and his burned out SUV was found torched and abandoned on the San Carlos Indian Reservation. On Friday, local law enforcement scoured the small town in search of the man.
